Alberto
Founder & Head Instructor
Real Jiu-Jitsu. Tested at the highest level. Alberto is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, IBJJF World Championship medalist, and world-class competitor representing CheckMat.
His jiu-jitsu has been tested in gi and no-gi against elite athletes across Worlds, Pans, Europeans, Brazilian Nationals, and international Opens because theory only matters if it works under pressure.
As a coach, Alberto teaches efficient, competition-tested jiu-jitsu focused on control, strategy, and results. No gimmicks. No wasted movement. Just techniques that hold up when it counts. Train seriously and you'll get better. Train consistently and you might start winning.
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt
- IBJJF World Championship medalist
- CheckMat competitor
- Gi and no-gi competitor at Worlds, Pans, Europeans, Brazilian Nationals, and international Opens
Axel Guzman
Instructor
Axel Guzman is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt and Masters division competitor who somehow makes rolling look like a casual stroll while quietly reminding you that you might get submitted.
He's been Alberto's student since day one, which explains the smoothness, the timing, and the occasional "wait, did he just do that?" moments on the mat.
Competing in IBJJF, NAGA, Newbreed, and Smoothcomp events, Axel shows that you can be a serious competitor and a happy-go-lucky hobbyist at the same time.
Train with him and you'll pick up timing, subtlety, and maybe a laugh or two. Roll with him and you'll realize that being relaxed doesn't mean being beatable--his techniques look effortless because they've been earned through intense training.
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt
- Masters division competitor
- Competed in IBJJF, NAGA, Newbreed, and Smoothcomp events
Ary
Instructor
Ary is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt and competitive grappler who brings a competitive intensity into training. Representing CheckMat, she has competed across IBJJF, NAGA, Newbreed, and Smoothcomp events in both gi and no-gi because choosing one rule set would have been too reasonable.
Her breakout moment came at the IBJJF Pan Championship, where she put her jiu-jitsu on a major stage and made it clear she belonged there.
That consistency paid off, finishing the season ranked #1 in the IBJJF as a white belt--equal parts impressive and inconvenient for everyone who underestimated her. Built under high standards, real pressure, and zero shortcuts, her jiu-jitsu holds up when it matters.

About
The Nomad Philosophy
At Nomad Jiu-Jitsu Studio, we believe the mat is more than a place to train—it’s a space to grow. Every class is built on a foundation of respect, discipline, and humility, where beginners and advanced students alike learn to push their limits while supporting one another.
Our instructors focus on helping each student develop confidence, resilience, and technical skill, creating an environment where personal growth is just as important as mastering the art of jiu-jitsu. Here, we train hard, treat each other with honor, and strive to become better—on and off the mat.
